Individual Therapy and Counseling

Individual Therapy Flint, MS

At The Traini Counseling Group, we realize every person is different, even if we may share common issues. While we know that nearly one in five adults struggle with mental illness in the United States, we also know that each case is different. Know that at the Traini Counseling Group, individual therapy for adults and teens will focus on the unique person and be a 1-on-1 experience between the patient and therapist. Each patient will have their own treatment plan and goals.

Why Should I Go to Therapy?

Do you find yourself struggling with crippling anxiety? Depression? Do you find yourself lacking interest in things that usually made you happy? Or maybe you find it hard to focus, or really feel connected when you are with others? Whatever you may be struggling with, whether it’s emotional distress, behaviors or even bodily sensations, therapy can help you find focus, learn coping skills for difficult situations, and reach personal goals you may not have known you could have achieved.
If you are hesitant about therapy, please read more about first sessions, typically treatment sessions, and fees and payments here. We understand that therapy can be overwhelming for many and that sometimes issues such as money and the stigma of mental illness can get in the way. Know that we are here for you and want to help you reach your full potential. If you have any questions at all, please reach out.

How Does The Traini Counseling Group Approach Therapy?

Therapy and Counseling Flint MI

Our therapists are dedicated to treating you with the best therapy that fits your needs and sometimes integrate multiple types of therapies together. Some types of therapy work better with certain issues compared to others. Two types of therapies we use here at The Traini Counseling Group include psychotherapy, otherwise known as traditional talk therapy, and

cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT,) a specific type of psychotherapy.

Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, is what you might typically visual therapy as. Talk therapy allows you to talk to your therapist in a safe environment about things that are bothering you, which in turn can help clarify these issues and help you put them in perspective. There are many types of talk therapy, such as cognitive or behaviorism, that we may integrate to help you build skills to best cope with your issues.

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is to help change your patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind your issues and in turn change the way you feel. CBT works to change your attitude and behavior by helping you to focus on your thoughts, attitudes and beliefs (your cognitive processes) and how they relate to your behavior.

How Does Individual Therapy Work?

We offer individual therapy as both a short term and long term mental health care service. During the initial visit, you and your therapist will spend some time getting to know each other. If you feel you do not “click” with your therapist, we will work hard to find a clinician who does!

Therapy sessions are often made weekly and we monitor your progress towards your goals throughout. We recommend and prefer that you establish a consistent and re-occurring time-slot for your sessions–we’ve seen the most success in these situations. Let us help you thrive again!
